Create a Donut Chart in Tableau

Updated: Sep 1, 2022

Since I have been getting a lot of requests for this one, so I thought to myself- why not!

It's as easy and tasty as it sounds.

First of all, we need to create a calculation

Axis

MIN(0)

or you can also create an ad-hoc calculation in the columns.

Next, drag it twice into column. In the marks cards, make the mark for AGG(Axis) as Pie and AGG(Axis) (2) as Circle. After you're done, It will look something like this:

Next, right-click on the second AGG(Axis) pill and select Dual Axis. Then, click on the marks card for AGG(Axis), i.e., pie and increase the size a little bit.

Now, click on the AGG(Axis) (2), i.e., Circle marks card, and change the color to white.

Now hide the axis headers

It will look something like this:

If you need to create a speedometer, you should stop here and move to that blog.

Moving on, click on the Pie Marks card and drag Sales to the angle, and Segment to the color. Additionally, you can add both Sales and Segment to Labels. You will see something like this:

After some formatting, we will get this:

And that's it! You've got yourself a nice donut chart ;D
